The Swedish krona (SEK) is the official currency of Sweden, it is also known as the “crown” in Swedish. It is abbreviated as “kr” and the symbol “kr” is often used. Swedish krona is also used in some regions of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. The krona is subdivided into 100 öre established in 1873, although the öre is no longer used in practice for cash transactions, as the smallest denomination in cash is 1 krona. Swedish currency code SEK (numeric: 752) and krona uses multiple coins like 1, 2, 5, and 10 kr.

Since the early 1990s, the Swedish krona has been a freely floating currency and is now among the most traded currencies globally. It is managed by the Swedish Riksbank, the world’s oldest central bank. Although Sweden is technically required to adopt the euro, a 2003 referendum showed that a significant majority of Swedes were against this change.
